With inflation, the cost of groceries and becoming a full-time college student once again while starting the investment fund, I have been leaning towards simple ingredient meals such as this ‘Frugal pasta’ as I like to call it.

The recipe is simple…
Whole grain pasta (rotini or elbow is what I prefer.)
Whatever brand of Chucky Garden Combo Sauce is on sale ( I lean towards Ragu or Prego.)
Italian sausage
Green peppers ( I normally do a frozen bag of chopped green peppers or a mix of pepper strips. I use half a bag each time I cook this.)
Minced garlic
Seasonings
– Italian seasoning
– onion powder
– garlic powder
– oregano
– bay leaf
– cayenne pepper
I don’t measure the seasonings. I just add until it’s to my liking.
Tonight I am adding a chunk of sourdough bread on the side. I have become really interested in what the Romans ate during their time and been devouring sourdough bread dipped in olive oil and herbs.
I can see how one could drop some lbs on an ancient Roman diet as long as they are mindful of the olive oil consumption alone. 120 calories for 1 TBSP of olive oil goes fast when dipping bread into it mixed with herbs to your liking.
Here Is the Finished Plate of My Favorite Broke College Student Meal

As you can see I have a Zevia next to it. I tried this flavor for the first time expecting to not like it, but was proven wrong, it is terrific! Better than Coca-Cola’s vanilla coke which I don’t care for.
I wrote about Zevia in a previous article, on whether Zevia would be a great investment for my portfolio. For dessert I will probably have a small bowl of Reese’s Puffs Cereal and settle down for the night with some episodes of FBI: Most Wanted.
