I’ll Soon Be Starting Spring Quarter Classes

It’s great so far. The real test will be when I’m a week or so into my classes to see if it provides good back and shoulder support.

My financial aid refund came in, and I went straight to Macy’s and bought a Nike backpack for $39 + tax. Thanks to the 25% discount.

The plan was to purchase a Jansport backpack at Office Depot for $56 + tax, but they were sold out. However, in the end, it all worked out.

My classes are all online this quarter, but I plan on using the college library to study and to take advantage of the free resources available.

Hopefully, their online financial resources are well-stocked as well, a bonus during break time between studies.

I did find that they have The New York Times available for students. I will definitely be making an account.

There is also a food pantry on campus and a mobile food bank that comes weekly, and I plan to utilize both of them if needed since groceries are out of control right now with inflation.

I am exhausted.

I spent all day running around, taking the bus and downtown link to buy my backpack at Macy’s, school supplies at Walmart, groceries at Safeway. I use their reward points and get really good deals on my staples.

For the first time in a long time, I ordered a drink (Thai tea) with my Pad Thai.

I wrote in another post about how I plan my cheap eats while dining out on a student budget. I rarely ever order anything other than an entree, but since I have been on the go non-stop from 12 pm to 6:30 pm, I made an exception.

Running around via public transportation not only takes up time but drains energy as well.

I spent more than I would have liked to get ready for the upcoming month, but at least groceries, school supplies, and other delayed expenses have been covered thanks to financial aid funds. If all goes according to plan, the only thing I will have to spend money on later in the month is meals.

With that said I’ll be surprised if the Pad Thai lasts me through tomorrow, since I haven’t eaten a single bite all day. The plan is to go home and watch some shows and fill my belly.

It is now the next day.

As soon as I made it home, I changed into indoor clothes and sat on the sofa for the next few hours eating and watching shows.

The ladies up front at the Thai restaurant gave me an ice-cold glass of water while waiting, which helped fill me up. So between the water, Thai tea, and the Pad Thai, it didn’t take me long to feel full.

Which means I still have Pad Thai left over while writing this.

Speaking of writing on here, I officially purchased the domain name “The Broke College Student” and paid for a hosting plan so I could use the new domain as the primary!

I am excited to keep writing on here and sharing my thoughts, observations, and reflections while also navigating life as a college student who is also building an investment fund.

Keeping the balance on here shouldn’t be all that difficult as there isn’t much happening in some of these areas such as the investment fund. The rest of this quarter will be spent on researching and understanding Morningstar.

For the most part, the busiest areas of my life over the next three months will be classwork and writing this blog, which is more of an outlet, so I wouldn’t count it as work.

I just finished packing up the backpack, and it is ready to go for Monday when the first day of class begins. The only thing I have to add to it will be my laptop, laptop charger, mouse, water bottle, and phone, and then head out.

It is Saturday, and I am signing off for the week to rest and recover, so I am ready to shift into the next week
