So, in my last post, I wrote about experiencing educational trauma and being worried about keeping up with my statistics class.
Well, I’m happy and somewhat surprised to say that this is actually one of my favorite classes so far, if not the top class among my others, which include psychology and philosophy.
If I had to rank them right now, it would be statistics, psychology, and philosophy.
Maybe it’s because I love learning new concepts and grasping things I never thought I would understand.
I mean, you always hear about how statistics is one of those classes that you either love or hate, and most people seem to hate it, but in the first week, I’ve really come to enjoy it and actually look forward to the homework.
This could change down the road; who knows? But right now, I’m really enjoying it, and once again, this comes as a surprise to me. I initially thought I would prefer my psychology class over my philosophy and statistics classes, but it turns out I’m enjoying my statistics class way more than the others.
It has also been a full week of non-stop class work but my system has been working so far.
A quick recap of my system and whether it’s working.
Right now, my study system is working well. I allocate two hours each day to each class subject.
I commute to campus Monday through Thursday, and then Friday through Sunday, I stay home, spending the weekend reviewing, completing assignments, and preparing for the upcoming week.
I also found ways to maximize my productivity. For example, when on the bus, I’ve been either pulling out my laptop or phone to work on assignments or write on here, which I did with the last post.
With that said yesterday was Friday, and I felt the urge to celebrate with mini Krispy Kreme assorted donuts for returning to school and for finishing the first week. I shared them and forgot to take a picture!

So, so good!
Be careful, though; the minis do add up in calories and sugar as innocent as they may seem. With that said, I will probably choose the minis from here on out and not worry about the burst of calories, since I rarely go to Krispy Kreme.
Further breakdown of my study plan (How I am efficient with time management)
When I am on campus, I usually spend from 10 to 3, sometimes till 4, working on my philosophy and psychology assignments.
Then, I will either walk over to Fred Meyer, pick up what is needed before commuting home, or if nothing is needed, I will go home, take an hour break, and then spend another two hours or so on stats homework.
I also bring the same lunch every day to campus, my favorite, frugal pasta. I wrote about my college grocery staples and wrote down the recipe to my broke student pasta.
Tomorrow, I’ll be cooking up a new batch, getting it ready for the upcoming week of school.
How I am further reinforcing my study system

I just ordered a 2024 daily, weekly, monthly planner off Amazon. It should arrive tomorrow before the start of the new week.
Even though I use the online course calendar and keep up with which assignments are due on certain dates, I feel comfortable having a physical reminder right next to me that I can open every night, jot down what is needed, and then move onto the next thing.
Also, I wrote down these perspectives in the notes section of my phone.
Perspectives to remember:
- You are completing tasks one at a time.
- As long as you have a working system in place, you will be fine no matter what emotion you are feeling in the moment. Emotions are temporary.
This is something I have to remind myself constantly as someone who struggles with anxiety and tends to catastrophize things when things aren’t actually bad.
This stems from things always going wrong in my childhood/upbringing that I had no control over.
I do realize there’s a big difference from being a child or a teenager versus being an adult with your own autonomy and control over your decisions.
This is another reason why I ordered the planner, so I can continue to write down perspectives and reminders to myself and review them, so I don’t throw off my balance or my system thinking it’s not working when it is. And I think it’s important for students to have that introspection and awareness of what is anxiety and what is actually reality.
Well, that is the update for now, and I hope to write on here soon!
No one knows I created this personal blog, but over time, I hope students from all over the world find it helpful or find these posts relatable and take away some gems.
