Successfully Completed Summer Quarter 2024: Looking Forward to a Month of Personal Projects and Investing

Okay, I m not sure where to start as it’s always hard to get back onto a project like this where I left off for a while because things got busy with school. I finished my classes yesterday, took my last final around 4:00 p.m., and finished it up.

Truth be told, I did not study for it. I was too tired and burnt out by the time finals rolled around, so I actually only spent a few hours reviewing what I could and just trying to cram. I got 40.6 out of 60, and I’m okay with that.

I did do an extra credit assignment that was optional, and received 15 points. The assignment was worth 10 points, however it was said if a student was able to blow the assignment away, more points would be given. It was about vaccines, mandates and personal choices, with positive consequences to entice people to vaccinate.

I wrote a bit about my personal experience of almost losing my child to a virus and how I have come to understand a balance perspective. It was an interesting assignment, but I came away with an A, so I am pleased with that.

If it had become a B+, I would have been okay with that too, especially since this class was Human Biology 175 with lab which I am glad is now off my to-do list. It was fun, but I will say that because I was burnt out and tired, I didn’t really appreciate the class as much as I wish I could have.

I didn’t really retain what I wanted to, but I do appreciate understanding the body more and have a new understanding of just how miraculous the human body is and how everything has to go right for your body to function properly.

It makes you want to ensure you’re feeding yourself the right food, moving your body, and appreciating it because you never know when things might go wrong.

Having lost a lot of loved ones, I’ve always appreciated each birthday, knowing that there’s someone who never made it to that age. It’s part of why I can’t stand when people complain about turning 30, for example—don’t they know the alternative is death?

This leads me to write about the next class I took for summer quarter, Nutrition. I took this class because I needed another science class, and it fit into my schedule. Also, over the last five years, I’ve gotten really into my health and fitness, and I thought nutrition would be a good class to take.

It was a little more chemistry-based than I really cared for, but it still made me appreciate what the body needs. It didn’t really get fun until the end, when there was a personal project where we had to set up a chronometer and track our food and protein intake and macros.

That part was interesting, but unfortunately, it came at the end. I thought the class would be more about understanding nutritional foods and what to eat for specific health goals, but it was more about how certain vitamins function, the makeup of vitamins, organic and inorganic compounds, and the functioning of the digestive tract.

I get that that’s important too, but because I wasn’t prepared for it to be more chemistry-based, I was a bit less excited about it. I had never taken a chemistry class in my life, so I think that threw me off a bit

Also, I went straight from spring quarter to summer quarter without much of a break. There was a week before classes switched over to summer quarter, but my biology teacher had already set assignments called Week Zero, which meant no week off.

With all that said, I’m happy to be finished. I might walk away with an A in nutrition as well—I believe I will since I have an A right now. Unless something unexpected happens with final grading, I should have straight A’s for the second time in a row, which is cool. But I’m also okay with a B+ if it comes to that.

One thing I’ll say about this quarter is that I wasn’t burnt out from putting in too much effort; it was just from having so many assignments in a short amount of time since summer quarters are shorter than the typical fall, spring, and winter quarters.

Moving forward, I have a little over a month off before classes start on September 24th. Between now and then, I plan to work on personal projects and take in as much financial content as I can.

I can read books, watch finance videos online, take some free online financial classes, and focus on the investment fund. I’ll be writing an update about it soon—it’s now a little bit higher than it was last time.

It was at $338 AUM, and it’s now above that. I’m halfway to my goal of hitting $1,000 by the end of the year. I also need and want to get my physical health back on track since my routine got wrecked over the last five months.

Lastly, I wanted to get this out of my head and restart this blog. I didn’t know what to write, so this is what came out. Moving forward, I hope to create more content about investing, psychology, or anything that pertains to the blog and adds some value.
