Getting Set for My Last Fall Quarter at Community College

It’s Tuesday, and fall quarter is right around the corner. Next Monday, I will be getting up at 9:30 to catch the 10:15 am bus once more, with a full schedule of classes waiting for me. It’s funny how when summer quarter ended, I was both eager for the break and eager for classes to start again because I enjoy the routine of deadlines and knowing that I have to get things done whether I want to or not—it’s one of the best forms of discipline there is.

Yesterday, I bought some groceries for the week so I can meal prep some dinners for tonight and tomorrow. Spring quarter was my first quarter back in college, and I struggled a bit with time management in my personal life.

This time, I am taking steps to do better, which means meal prepping will be the goal moving forward. Simple dishes that don’t require much prep or thinking. So, chicken and rice will be a main go-to, along with bagels and yogurt, which I survived on during spring quarter.

Lessons Learned from Summer Quarter

Summer was a bit more lenient, so I ate whatever sounded good because I was part-time rather than full-time. I will also be taking lessons I learned from summer quarter and applying them to fall quarter. One of them being, I will not be checking grades and will just do the work and move forward—applying only what is needed to get the assignment completed. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was able to find a better balance in my personal life during summer quarter and still managed to maintain A’s and make the Dean’s List a second time. This will be the first time with a full credit load that I won’t be checking grades, so I am eager to see how I adjust to this quarter while still maintaining the personal balance from summer quarter.

Areas for Improvement: Time Management and Self-Care

I also want to improve upon areas that could be better, such as putting things off until the last minute, causing me to feel unprepared. I noticed that happens when I don’t actually take breaks and rest when I need to. I often push myself, and then my body takes a break for me, which isn’t always at ideal times. So, listening to my body and checking in with myself more is the goal for next quarter.

This means there will be weeks I might choose to work from home instead of commuting to the campus library so I can have more time for rest and physical activity. It’s just finding that sweet spot for both school and personal.

Reflections on Blogging and Future Goals

Well, this is the recent college life update for this site. I know most of my posts lately have been about investing and finance, which I love writing about. It’s my passion, something I am genuinely interested in and good at. I hope to help everyone who reads this site, whether you’re a college student or someone learning how to be frugal in order to save money and build financial security.

At the same time, I want to continue providing updates about my college journey, documenting the pivotal moments so I can look back and see the areas where I’ve grown. With that said, thanks for reading.

Milestone Achievement: 100,000 Words Written

P.S. This blog post marks 100,000 words written on this site and is the 107th post published since I started this site on March 6th, 2024.

I am excited to see where this blog takes me and what the future of this blog will look like. I recently changed the theme to one that has a better homepage for visiting readers who come across the site for the first time. I think it’s an improvement. Even though it took some time for me to make the switch, I couldn’t be happier with it.

Here’s to the next 100,000 words written on here. No matter what happens with this blog, I find it a necessary outlet for myself, and I hope that eventually, I will be writing a post here on how the investment fund reached its first $100,000.

That will be quite some time from now, but remember, small sums add up. If you’ve been here reading updates on both the investment fund and college life, you’ll see that I believe deeply in the compound effect and how our actions, no matter how small, can create snowball effects.
