Today Was the First Day of Fall Classes

Today was my first day of fall quarter after waking up to purchase a couple of shares of Kenvue. I didn’t sleep well last night because of the anticipation of knowing the fund was going to meet its target goal. This is probably why I was overwhelmed seeing all the reading assignments that need to be completed this week.

That, and I couldn’t find my apartment keys, which has never happened to me. I had to rely on the teen to lock up and let us back in once we made it home. This also meant I didn’t get much work done at the campus library.

I decided to pack up and grab a couple of free sandwiches at the campus yard event and dropped by to surprise my former advisor, who has since become a family friend. It was really nice to see her. The teen was with me, so he was just as happy to see her. It made her day just as much!

She used to spend time with him one-on-one when he was young, like taking him to the zoo or watching him while I was in class. That one time, he came back with an XL chocolate Hershey bar and an energy drink from her exchange students. I confiscated the energy drink.

After that, we headed out to the store to pick up staples for the rest of the month so I wouldn’t have to worry about anything but the start of classes. It always takes a bit of adjustment before I settle in and find my pace with the material. ChatGPT was useful for that today, as I had a discreet conversation about nerves and feeling overwhelmed about it all.

It was nice to be reminded of how I tackled the previous quarters and that this isn’t much different, except the reading is a bit more this quarter. Even then, I am excited to learn the material for each class and engage with new concepts. I just have to remind myself that it’s about learning the concepts of the respective topic, not just reading walls of text to say I did the assignment.

I also picked up a slice of plain vanilla cake after finishing all the errands today to celebrate the private investment fund reaching $1,000 in assets for the first time, as well as to celebrate my last fall quarter before graduating and moving on to university to finish up the rest of my undergrad. It’s been a long day but one that had more ups than downs, so I wanted to document it here so I could look back.

I don’t have much to add to this post, so I’ll leave it here. Thanks for reading! Also, I did eventually find my keys… in the laundry basket.
